Allysia Scherer served as a Corpsman in the Navy, on her way to commissioning in the Navy Nurse Corps. Then, tragedy struck, leading to her into medical retirement February 2024. During this challenging period, she founded a farm aimed at promoting healing and serving her community and family.
As her farming dreams took root, they evolved when she was diagnosed with a secondary disability affecting her ability to be an efficient farmer. Inspired by her journey learning how to make things from scratch, Allysia began teaching classes on the farm. With the limitations on her ability to grow vegetables and raise livestock for profit, she increasingly focused on education, which became a fulfilling new direction in her life.
This teaching experience ultimately inspired her to write her first book, "Sourdough with Grace." Through her work, Allysia shares her passion for baking sourdough and speaks at local events, inspiring others to pursue their dreams despite facing adversity.
